Moringa oil is produced by extracting oil from the seeds of the Moringa tree, sometimes called the Miracle Tree. The Moringa oleifera used to be native to the sub-Himalayan region on the Indian subcontinent. Now it is widely cultivated on plantations in Africa, South-east Asia, and Central and South America. Why are we such fans of this magical oil? If you have added the Squalan Cleanser or the Squalan Eye serum to your beauty regime, you will know why. But for those of you that have not, we would like to tell you more about this ingredient as we strongly believe everyone should be fully informed about what is in their skin care products.
Moringa oleifera: the world’s most useful tree
The Moringa tree is extremely versatile as nearly every part of it, including its leaves, flowers, pods, seeds, roots, and bark, have nutritious or medicinal value or some other useful purpose. The nutrient-rich leaves contain large amounts of vitamin A and C, and are helping combat malnutrition in South Africa.
How is moringa oil produced?
This wonderful vegetable oil is extracted from pea-like seeds found in the long, green pods of the Moringa tree. The seeds are cold pressed (at a temperature no higher than 35 degrees) to ensure all the oil’s nutrients remain intact. The oil is then filtered and what remains is a very rich, pure oil full of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.
Why have we added moringa oil to some of our products?

Why does Squalan use certified moringa oil?
It will by now be clear to you why moringa oil is such a popular product. Unfortunately, some fraudsters have entered the market, raising concerns over the quality of some moringa oils as not all suppliers provide 100% pure, first-pressed oil. We use 100% pure moringa oil in all of our products as is proven by our Allergy Certified label. Companies are only permitted to use this label if their ingredients have been checked at the molecular level by a toxicologist.
How to spot poor-quality moringa oil
Pure moringa oil has a pleasant, nutty fragrance and a long shelf life. Moringa oil that smells unpleasant is probably of poor quality. In addition, it should not have a strong scented fragrance as this is not a feature of 100% pure moringa oils. All Squalan products are 100% fragrance free.
